Kenya Crisis

In Kenya, the flawed December 2007 presidential election resulted in a humanitarian, political, and economic crisis, in which hundreds were killed and over 250,000 displaced. Most were already among the most vulnerable members of the population.

UUSC immediately expressed its support for the people of Kenya and urged the political parties to take whatever steps necessary to reach a peaceful settlement consistent with democratic processes.

Through UUSC’s long-term and ongoing work in Kenya, we have established relationships with grassroots organizations from a variety of social sectors. Their courageous struggle for human rights has become even more precarious. In collaboration with these groups, we are continuing to support those whose rights are most at risk.
