What You Can Do
Commemorate
As we commemorate the earthquake in Haiti, we
recommit ourselves to helping Haitians achieve the just recovery that they
deserve. Whether you learn about
UUSC's work in Haiti, talk to your legislators about what they can do to help,
teach others about this important issue, or join one of the UUSC-UUA volunteer
trips to Haiti, help us observe this commemoration with the people of Haiti.
Speak Out
Help lift up the voices of Haitian partners. Contact your elected representatives now by responding to our latest action alert: Please send a message today to urge your members of Congress to end sexual and gender-based violence in Haiti.
As a UUSC media advocate, you help to raise awareness of critical social-justice issues in the United States and around the world — and influence public opinion. Write op-eds and letters to editors and get them published in your local newspaper.
Volunteer
UUSC is developing partner-centered opportunities for the Haiti Volunteer Program. Participants will work alongside our partners on rebuilding and reconstruction projects, agriculture programs, teaching opportunities, and programs focused on Haitian youth. If you are interested in any of these volunteer opportunities, please visit the Haiti Volunteer Program web page or e-mail csj@uusc.org to find out how you can get involved.
Share
If you have participated in a service learning trip to Haiti with UUSC, pass your experience and knowledge forward to your congregation and community. Our Haiti volunteer alumni action plan and resources make it easy.
Educate
In partnership with the UUA and the Veatch Program of the UU Congregation at Shelter Rock, UUSC has produced an exciting new set of religious education and worship resources for congregations interested in learning more about Haiti and UUSC's recovery work there. Beyond the Mountain, a curriculum made up of five workshops, introduces congregants to the history, culture, and people of Haiti, highlighting UUSC's ongoing response to the devastating January 2010 earthquake.
