In February 2008, UUSC held a roundtable discussion focusing on
the human cost of Iraq. Titled The Human Cost of the War in Iraq, the
roundtable featured speakers Camilo Mejía, Liam Madden, Nancy Lessin, Nasser
Weddady, and Civil Liberties Program Manager Wayne Smith. Mejía is the
chair of the board of directors of
Iraq Veterans Against the War, as well as
author of the book Road from Ar Ramadi. Madden is the co-founder of
Iraq Veterans Against the War as well as co-founder of
Appeal for
Redress. Lessin is the co-founder of
Military Families Speak Out. Weddady
works for Hands Across the Mideast
Support Alliance.
