The chair of UUSC's Board of Trustees, Todd Jones, was honored by the
Unitarian Universalist Association with the Unsung UU Award.
"He (Mr. Jones) is an evangelical Unitarian Universalist in the best
sense of the word, inspiring everyone to do their best," said the Rev. Tracey Robinson-Harris, the UUA's director
of congregational services, in presenting the award at a plenary session of the annual General Assembly in Fort
Worth, Texas.
Mr. Jones, a lifelong social activist, has supported UUSC for many years.
He was a local representative, regional coordinator and national co-chair of our Volunteer Network. He has also
been active in program work, participating in three migrant farm worker workcamps in Washington State and traveling
to Guatemala to visit grassroots partners working to bring justice to victims of human rights abuses.
The Unsung UU Award is presented annually "to honor a person judged to have
given high levels of service to Unitarian Universalism while receiving relatively low levels of recognition, at
least up to this point," said Rev. Robinson-Harris.
She said Mr. Jones "has provided renewed energy to a variety of committees
and causes with his enthusiasm and excellent organizational skills."
A member of the Bellingham Unitarian Fellowship in Bellingham, Wash., Mr.
Jones launched a campaign and achieved the goal of enrolling every member of his congregation in UUSC, a remarkable
accomplishment that continues to this day.
