UUSC announces “Campaign for Our Future”

In order to support increases in advocacy work and communication with constituents, UUSC has announced the first adjustment in its membership levels in more than 20 years. The new rates are effective July 1, 2005.

As new programs take shape from the review process that was started in 2003, UUSC will emerge as a strong advocacy organization. Issues related to economic justice, civil liberties and environmental justice are all top priorities in UUSC's justice-centered work.

“Our membership affects our influence in the United States and abroad, as we advocate for justice and confront oppressive power structures. Each member's support helps strengthen UUSC's program activities and partners worldwide, and reaffirms our shared belief in the inherent worth and dignity of all people,” said UUSC President Charlie Clements. “Now, we will increase the member education and advocacy opportunities so that every member of the Service Committee has a means of putting their values put into action. We want the words to become actions, the actions to become a movement, and the movement to become real change in the lives of real people.”

UUSC will maintain its youth/student membership level at only $10. “We do not want price to be a barrier to membership to anyone, but particularly not to youth. Our goal is to ensure that the next generation of social justice leaders is brought up knowing that UUSC is an effective, vibrant voice for human rights,” said Dr. Clements.
