Get InvolvedUUSC offers interested volunteers a multitude of ways to work for social justice and human rights. Participants in our hands-on learning and service opportunities develop important advocacy skills as they work for positive social and political change in a variety of settings. If you'd like to get involved, please consider joining UUSC and participating in one of our many rewarding volunteer opportunities. Workcamps are short-term projects that help volunteers examine and understand the root causes and damaging effects of injustice. By working directly with people in the communities they serve, participants of all ages and backgrounds experience local struggles firsthand and gain skills for fighting injustice in their own communities. Workcamps also offer a way to bridge class and racial divisions in society. Other UUSC volunteers respond to action alerts, participate in media outreach activities or take part in UUSC-sponsored activities in Unitarian Universalist congregations. In addition, UUSC members often act as advocates for policy issues important to the Service Committee by meeting with state legislators, providing testimony to key legislative committees, or organizing letter-writing and telephone campaigns.
