Summer 2001 workcamps

The summer 2001 programs dealt with a wide range of social justice issues. At the General Assembly program in Cleveland, participants were trained to be advocates for prison reform.

In Yakima, Washington, volunteers worked in an isolated farm worker town. Their work building a playground strengthened the sense of community for the families in the town. Click here for details.

In southern California, a new UUSC workcamp provided support for youth educational programs on the La Jolla Reservation near San Diego. Volunteers supported reservation leaders who see education as the key to lifting the next generation out of chronic poverty.
