Public Policy
Pressing for public policies that advance human rights is a critical part of UUSC's work. We ensure that the voices of all the groups we work with — partners, members and supporters, and colleague organizations — are heard in the halls of government and other institutions. We send out action alerts and hold events to mobilize our members and supporters to press their elected officials to bring about public policy change with local and global reach.

Public policy statements, letters, and sign ons
UUSC regularly issues statements on urgent events as they arise, both those with direct policy implications and crises that call for an assessment from UUSC's social justice and human rights perspective. UUSC also sends letters to select leaders of government and other institutions, asking them to take specific actions on matters with significant human rights or social justice impact. And UUSC also signs on to similar letters written by colleague agencies in order to demonstrate a unified position on major public policy issues.
