Solidarite Fanm Ayisyen (SOFA)

SOFA works with women and girls across Haiti to address and prevent the impacts of gender-based violence.
Solidarite Fanm Ayisyen (SOFA)

LOCATION: Port-au-Prince, Haiti

Solidarite Fanm Ayisyen (SOFA) provides important emotional, mental health, and accompaniment services for women and girls across Haiti who experience violence. Given a serious spike in violence since the July 2021 assassination of former President Jovenel Moïse and the subsequent August 2021 magnitude 7.2 earthquake that shook the nation, women and girls have suffered tremendously under an extreme amount of physical, emotional, and sexual violence, often inflicted by gangs and law enforcement. SOFA has risen to the many needs of women and girls around Haiti and provides much-needed psychosocial support and accompaniment.

UUSC is proud to partner with an organization that plays a pivotal role in ensuring women and girls are protected and affirmed during an uncertain time in Haiti.
